We do not store your name, your phone number, your parking locations, your photos, your document numbers or your documents on any server.
Your phone number, parking spots and photos, document photos and numbers, and your parking history are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. They are not transmitted to us. If you clear your browser data or change phones, they are gone unless you use the app's backup feature.
A partially hidden vehicle number (last digits masked), the vehicle type and model, and whether alerts are on. They cannot see your number or contact you directly. To send an alert they must enter the last four digits of your number plate and provide their own phone number, which is passed to you.
The app asks for location only when you tap features that need it: saving a parking spot, walking back to your vehicle, or finding nearby services. Location is used on your device and, for nearby services, sent to the map provider (OpenStreetMap's Overpass API, the OSRM routing service for drive times, or Google Maps) as part of that search. We do not receive or store it.
If you turn on alerts, your browser gives us a push subscription so we can notify you when someone scans your tag. We also use it to send the document-expiry and parking reminders described in section 1. You can turn this off at any time in your browser's site settings.
A person who scans your tag can start an internet call to you. The call connects browser to browser; no phone numbers are exchanged or stored. Our relay passes only the technical set-up messages and does not record or store audio. When both phones are behind mobile-network address translation the audio is relayed by a TURN server (Cloudflare's, or a public relay during the pilot); relays forward encrypted audio and do not keep it.
Each tag accepts a limited number of alerts per hour, and each sender number is limited across all tags. We store the sender's number with the alert so that misuse can be traced. To stop guessing, we count wrong plate entries per tag and per network address; these counters delete themselves after one hour.
You can delete a vehicle in the app at any time (Vehicles, Edit, Delete this vehicle). This removes its record from our server straight away and the sticker stops working. You can also turn alerts off for a phone from the Tag screen. If you no longer have the app, email us with your tag code and we will remove it within 7 days. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may request access to or correction of the data we hold about your tag.
SafeTag is for vehicle owners and is not directed at anyone under 18.
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
